{ Three Card Monday }

Hi Y'all, did you have a good weekend? I had food poisoning AND my daughter's first slumber party, so mine was somewhat of a mixed bag.

I've done something a little different for this week's reading - I felt like this is going to be an emotionally heavy and/or draining week for most people (at least for the four of you who read this blog) and I thought that a single card pull would give us enough scope for the week. Not surprisingly, I pulled this guy:

~ Five of Cups ~ This guy is super bummed out, Y'all. He sees that some jerkface has gone and knocked over three of his cups and he is grievously disappointed to see them spilled. Five of Cups is all about feeling emotionally vulnerable - either due to actual loss or because of some heartfelt disappointment. I know a lot of people who have felt this way recently, myself included, but we need to remember the silver lining that is present here. We have the ability to weather all kinds of storms and we must remember that there is opportunity to be found in adversity. Rather than focusing on the three cups which have spilled out onto the ground, we simply need to turn around and look to the two full cups behind us. This is actually a card for hope. If we are able to take an honest look at our experiences and review them with compassion and understanding, then we can move forward with this knowledge and and change our situation for the better. { Three Card Monday :: Gratitude }

Y'all. Before we kick this week off, all of us here at Oracle would like to thank YOU - our customers, our readers, and our FB & IG followers, for being such an excellent part of our community. You are EXCELLENT and without you and your support, we wouldn't be here. We appreciate each and every one of you so much - thank you for helping us grow and for sharing our passion for beautiful and weird shit! 

Nine of Swords, The World, and Ace of Pentacles.

I wanted to contextualize this week's reading with Jodorowsky's 'Yes, But......Therefore!' strategy - it's a great one to use when you don't necessarily have a question, or perhaps are confronted with conflicting desires. FUN! 

~ Nine of Swords - Our 'Yes' card is our situation, it's where we are now. Roughly, we are collectively on the brink of a new understanding. This is a card of illumination - in which we break old mental habits and intellectually let go. This process puts the power back into our hands as we quiet the worst-case scenarios and 'what ifs' and look only at 'what is'. 

~ The World - Our 'But' card is the obstacle or challenge for us. The World, of course, is the final card of the Major Arcana and represents total realization and enlightenment. So, you know, BFD. The World represents what we all aspire to gain on this life journey, so yeah, it makes sense that getting to this point will be a tough (but fulfilling) road.  I would imagine our challenges here lie in freeing ourselves from self-destruction as we make our way towards totality and put ourselves at the service of humanity, but you know, I'm just spit-ballin' here.

~ Ace of Pentacles - Our 'Therefore!' card provides the clue (or clues) needed to find resolve. This card signifies material energy in all of it's potential forms and directs our questions to the concrete aspects of life. This is a card about the beginning of abundance (in family life, money, health and and home). If we plant the seeds for abundance, nurture them and foster this growth, then we are well on our way to becoming active in the World.

Pretty lofty stuff, eh? I couldn't just leave well enough alone, so I pulled........

::::::::: BONUS CARD Y'ALL ::::::::: 

~ The Tower - Okay Y'all. This card tends to reaaaaallly bum people out when it comes up in readings, but let me tell you, I love this card. (I have also included some bonus Jeff Goldblum in his titular role as Dr. Ian Malcom, Chaotician, to put you in a state of ease while we talk about why The Tower is actually an awesome card). This card has always come up for me when I am about to go through a pretty significant change. This is a card of transformation - things that used to be closed to us are now open, this is a call to push the boundaries and go beyond our mental and emotional limits. This card signifies the emergence of something that was imprisoned, having our foundations shaken a bit, all to open us up to raise our consciousness. This card also falls into the 'Therefore!' position, so we need to remain open and receptive to radical change as we strive for our goals. Chaos, Y'all!

{ Three Card Monday }

S'up Lovelies! I pulled some cards for the week, let's do this:

- Seven of Wands - This is a card of courage, it shows up in readings - not to denote a confrontation - but to strengthen your resolve in meeting the challenges that are coming to you. You can defend your beliefs without being defensive, and you will have the support you need.

- Two of Swords - This card is all about balance and stabilization. It also shows up in readings to herald a time for peace following confusion or conflict. You are being asked to calm your mind, to feel grounded in the choices you have made and to make your own sanctuary (mentally and spiritually speaking), this self awareness allows you to move forward and make progress.

- The Fool - Our buddy the Fool here always turns up when we make a new beginning or journey. He represents innocence, starting along a new path in which enlightenment is the only goal. This is about fresh starts, renewed energy and second chances.

My first reaction to this reading when I pulled it was a sarcastic, 'Ohhhhhhh. Oh, NO SHIT, TAROT'. 

I don't think it would surprise any of you (*cough* the four of you who read this *cough*) that I pulled a card marking a call for courage during a time of conflict and challenge; and right on it's heels, a call for stability and peace - served with a huge helping of self-awareness and self-governance; and then here comes the Fool strolling up to remind us that we have a fresh opportunity to make things right, to start over - and hopefully, in spite of ourselves, not fuck things up so bad this time around. Seems pretty clear, eh?

Anyways, that's my take. Let's have a week, shall we? Happy Turkey and/or Tofurkey Day!!

{ Three Card Monday }

- Four of Cups - The Cups usually relate to our emotions and heart feelings and this is no exception. This card symbolizes a time for re-evaluation. You may have experienced some boredom, disillusionment and/or unfulfilled expectations. While feeling like this is always a bummer, it can also be a gift - look carefully into your personal value system and decide what needs to change.

- Six of Cups - I know we all didn't have the best childhoods, BUT! Remember what it felt like to go out and play and and have fun? It's time to get back to those childlike feelings and create ease and a gentle space for yourself. Use your imagination and take pleasure in simple joys. 

- Queen of Pentacles - This week we are called to embody the characteristics of the Queen of Pentacles - a calm, practical and charitable person. This Queen is a nurturer, particularly concerned with caring for the Earth, as well as all it's inhabitants. She cherishes family, security and comfort - her appearance in this reading reminds us that we need to care for our environment, as well as for our neighbors. 

So, I'm going to to kick this off with an UNDERSTATEMENT and say that last week was pretty terrible (elections always are...), with that out of the way, let's break this reading down, shall we? 

There's a saying that I love, 'you can either change your situation, or you can change your perspective about the situation.' If you are stuck in a rut or just feeling a let down, it's time for your to take an honest peek under the hood. It's always easier for us to point the finger at others and lay blame for our unhappiness (and sometimes it is totally their fault), but now is the time to look within. Are you engaging in a cycle of behavior that keeps landing you in a bad spot? Are you attracted to unhealthy patterns - or people? Fear and habit keep us in bad places - emotionally speaking - so it's good for all of us to re-examine our relationships and how we engage with others.

I'm super glad that the Six of Cups came up Y'all! We are so serious all the time and forget the simple joys of playtime and creative exploration. Give yourselves some space to have fun and donkey around. Sign up for that dance class that looks fun as hell but scares the crap out of you! Go outside for a walk or run, get some fresh air and keep your eyes peeled for hawks! You've been wanting to dye your hair purple for months now, and I think you should. Think about the things that really sparked you when you were a kid and then explore those things - and be gentle with yourself. 

I think the next card is an easy one to summarize thusly; DON'T BE A DICK. Recycle. Turn off the tap when you aren't using it. Work for a local environmental charity that you care about...and while you are at it, take a look at how your own actions affect the land (and people, and critters, etc) around you and make changes to be a better steward to your planet. For the love of all that is holy, be kind to your neighbor and use your skill set and talents to create a better place for those around you. We are all the same under the skin and we all have to share this planet together, so let's do our part to not make our limited time here so awful.
